    Hey Guys!

    This is Cool!

And I like the name too! Used to me Advanced Telemedicine Network Research, but Advanced Telecommunication & Network Research is very cool too!

    Guys, some update from me:

I am working with the USRP that I borrowed, and it is really the tool for the research group! Can do gazzilion thing. I advice you all to learn Python. There is Matlab interface for USRP but still buggy.

I am currently working on PHY/MAC layer. I am running packet transfer between two USRP. My goal is (1)to have a forward error correction mechanism implemented in PHY/MAC layer to salvage the ‘bad header’ packets (2)to implement a cooperative MIMO protocol at PHY/MAC. This is all going towards Cooperative Diversity System.

    So,
What have you all working on?

Guys, can you get some students to do Coding? I would like to see some work done on exploiting the ‘Options’ field in IP and TCP packets. It can be used to carry some important information over like parity bits for error correction, kernel parameter as in Network Coding, etc. I will be fun.

I would also like so suggest work to be done on Cognitive Radio, Cognitive Wireless Sensor, Cognitive Wireless Network, etc., using USRP.

Guys, Please don’t let the students (FYP) play with the USRP without your supervision! it is a delicate equipments and the DSP processor will burn out if wrong clock is set or continuous heavy load processing is done. I don’t think any students knows python that well so probably they will try all the pre-written test programs in gnuradio-examples. That is bad. Take care of the USRP. We are the only bunch who got USRP in MALAYSIA probably :-)

    Cheers guys.

Just wondering if you guys face any obstacles(Custom,SIRIM) when getting the USRP into Malaysia?
